Competitive Analysis Starbucks mission is “To inspire and nurture the human spirit— one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time” (Starbucks, 2009). Headquartered in Seattle, Washington since its founding in 1985, Starbucks Corporation “purchases and roasts whole bean coffees and sells them, along with specialized handcrafted coffee and tea beverages and food items, through its companyoperated retail stores” (Starbucks Corporate Website, 2011). In order for Starbucks to succeed over its competitors, various factors must be taken into consideration. Starbucks must understand the market and the changes in supply and demand. The company must be aware of issues and opportunities to stay one step ahead of its competitors. Variable and fixed costs are also factors that must be analyzed. Based on all these factors, one can provide recommendations for maximizing profitmaking potential. There is a lot of competition for Starbucks but by staying ahead of competitors and making smart business decisions, the company will succeed over the rest. Starbucks Corporation Starbucks Corporation is a company that deals in coffee retail with an approximate 16,850 coffee shops spread in 40 countries. Its stores specialize in offering drinks, food, coffee and tea, as well as roasted beans. In the US, the company runs shops that are owned while other shops are spread in airports and shopping centers owned as franchises constituting 8,000 of their units. The mission statement entails a goal to become the best coffee stores in the world through observation of various guidelines including appreciating diversity, social responsibility and suitable work environment.
