This article provides a framework and guidelines for gathering information and treating the elderly. The article discusses the holistic approach of looking at patients and recording information for the care of older adults. The article focused on listening, observing and gathering information related to symptoms. They expand idea associated with gathering information about emotional and psychological needs of the patient. They also mention the use standardize assessment and how they can be beneficial for gathering necessary information. According the article comprehensive assessment are important in gathering information in nursing while treating elderly patients. They discuss using the outcome of the comprehensive assessment to determine if the older person is experiencing and acute episode of Dementia or this is long-term effect of the condition that has set in. Many nursing professional have begun to use the family centered approach to assist with gather the accurate information. For example, if patient has poor nutrition would be appropriate for the nursing staff to consult a doctor of nutritionist.
