THE VALUE OF COMPUTER EDUCATION TODAY
Necessity is the mother of revolution. The saying holds true for computers also because computers were invented as a result of a main search for a fast and an accurate calculating device.
A few days ago there were only few computers in our country. They were enormous and expensive machines. Although abacus was invented around 600 B.C. It is interesting to know that it can calculate at an amazing speed. The first mechanical adding machine was invented by Blaise Pascal in 1642. Keyboard machine and concept of punched cards, came up around, 1880. Bussiness machines and calculators made their appearance. Towards the end of the nineteenth century professor at Cambridge considered to be the father of digital computer. Thousands of computers, from small relatively cheap units to large and expensive computers can be found in offices, factories, schools, hospitals, banks, airport, railway stations and homes. Plans are already afoot to equip each district headquarters in India with a computer which will be linked through satellite communication with a large central computer. This computer “network” will maintain kinds of data information for the whole country .indeed computers have become a way of life with us. They have tremendously increased our capacity to exchange information under take planning down to the grass root level and facility solution of very complex problems.
The computer is being used by students for study and communication purposes. The use of internet has enabled the young and the talented students to find their information from anywhere in the world within a seconds. The internet facility provides the student the facility to communicate with the people but also to study many courses through it. It is a real blessing for the young students. In India the government has announced “Operation Knowledge” “Bidyarti Computer Scheme” “Shikshak Computer Scheme” and school computer scheme. They are the schemes for penetration
