INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The ever changing trend in technology brought the necessity for the automation of everything from paper-and-pen based to absolute computer domination. The overwhelming emergence of computers paved way to easier access of information that leads to increased production, efficiency and reliability.
The increasing urbanity of modern information system allows the information and communication technologies to be utilized in different actions. In fact, the educational institutions are one of the leading users of computer applications in order to manage student data. Student Information System is a computer application that deals with the generation, collection, organization, storage, retrieval and dissemination of recorded knowledge. Computerized Student Information System provide capabilities for entering student information, building a student record and managing other student – related data needs in the school.
1.2 Objective of the Study
We proposed a system, which is called Computerized Student Information System, to help the school to provide complete information of the student. It will help to maintain and monitor the yearly enrollees, drop outs and to keep their records. This will be ease in accessing the records needed for their will be an option for searching with the use of student number issued by the school.
The common functions of a Computerized Student Information System are to support the maintenance of personal and study information relating to:
Handling inquiries from prospective students
Handling the admissions process
Enrolling new students and storing teaching option choices
Handling records of examinations, assessments, marks, grades and academic progression
Maintaining records of absences and attendance
Handling personal information such as birthdays, address, name of parents, etc.
