Conflict in Bend it Like Beckham
One of the objects I decided to add to my median was a breast cancer symbol. This symbol became a part of my life when I was little, because of the disease that impacted my family. I chose to specifically put this on my cross, because my mom always states, “Once it happens, it can never go away, it becomes part of you.” I feel as if it became more part of my background then heritage, mainly because not everyone in my family has had cancer. My mom is my true inspiration, because she proved that if times are tough you need to always find the light at the end of the tunnel. Without the effect that cancer put on my family, I feel we wouldn’t have become as close as we are today. If someday I wanted to have a tattoo I would chose to put a breast cancer symbol, because every time I would be having a bad day I could look down and see that symbol, and find the light at the end of the tunnel. I also feel that it has taught me not to take each moment for granite and when something good happens that I need to take it and run with it. I just always remember there is a blessing in disguise and that with a bad there is a good and with a good comes a bad.
Another object I chose to attach to my cross was an anchor. The anchor is a part of my culture, and makes up my life because it symbolizes one of my families favorite bible verses, which is, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” Hebrews 6:19 This represents my families background, because as Christians we believe that the Lord will always be there to help guide us to the road in which He has chosen for us. But we also need to understand that He is not always there to guide us through every obstacle we face in life, and this is why He provides us with this anchor in our soul, which will allow one to be able to make it through the hard times, and scary moments that will occur in a human’s lifetime. Both of the symbols coincide with one another, because through my mom’s hard times, the Lord allowed us to

The character Roger, from the beginning of Lord of the Flies, was described as a weird character. He is a secretive boy that likes to hide behind people and observe other’s actions, he is also one of the hunters that guards the castle rock fortress. Roger is equally cruel as Jack, they think the same and Roger is always on Jack’s side. Even before he became savage, Roger was a dictator and extremely rude, kicking down sand castles and throwing sand at others. He also has many faults that one would dislike him for. One of the being that he is a very destructive boy, such as when he suggested to make a bow and spin an arrow to make a fire, a regular ten-year-old wouldn't know how to do that. Roger acts this way because he has secrets that if he tells anyone he might get in huge trouble for. There’s nothing really to like about him, he’d…

We have the bible, pictures of the school, the Episcopal and American flag, and a icon. The bible symbolizes the christianity of the school, and shows our love for God. The pictures of the school will show the future people what our school looks like, and will provide some pictures that will be very valuable in the future. We put the Episcopal flag in the time capsule because we are an Episcopal school. We want the flag to be one of the most important things in our time capsule. "Don't let anyone tell you that you have to be a certain way. Be unique. Be what you feel", this was mentioned by Melissa Etheridge, a famous American signer who lives a life with cancer. Although she may look different due to the lost of her hair, she always celebrates her individuality. Melissa Etheridge and I have something in common; we're both unique in our own way. Ever since I was born, I was diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a disorder that stays with me for the rest of my life. It is my companion. I'm able to visualize the world differently than others. My imagination is beyond ordinary, and my curiosity is unlimited. I'm never afraid to challenge my teachers' ideas and take a stand for my own beliefs. Although many people view me differently, I believe that my uniqueness makes me stronger as an individual.…

    The Christian Cross Analysis

    • 2391 Words
    • 10 Pages

The cross, it may seem to be something so simple, yet the Christian community, and other bible believing communities, treat it like it is the air they breathe. Why is something so facile, so salient to a society of people? The Christian community finds the cross to be their solitude; the cross is their symbol of freedom from torment, and the love God has for them. Just as the American flag shows American citizens freedom, or the Statue of Liberty told the immigrants they were safe. The cross tells the Christians that they do not need to worry about what will happen after death anymore. They believe God has them and will not let them fall into an eternity of torment. The Christian community holds on to the cross with vigilance and will fight…

The second thing I chose to put in my bag are some pictures of my family. I have my grandparents, all my aunts and uncles, my mother and sister, my fiancé and baby, and finally my dog Dori. The reason I chose these pictures to put in my bag is because I couldn’t stress enough how much my family members mean to me. I have had several friends either lose their brother, mother, or even grandparents, and it makes me WANT to cherish every moment with my family and REALIZE that I should. It also makes me thank God for the family that he blessed me with.…

I remember before we left for vacation, my mom’s eyelashes started to grow back and she was so excited to go out and be able to buy mascara again. My mom fought her way through cancer and now she was able to start living her life normally again and that made me more happy than I had been that past year. My mom deserved that vacation more than anything, she was finally able to relax, be spoiled, and know that everything from there on out was going to be okay. Fast forward to the summer of 2014, my mom received her five years clear of cancer and strolled out of her doctor’s office to a round of applause by all the nurses who helped her win her fight. I remember that day smelled like the sunflowers my sisters and I had set on our dining room table for our mom to come home to. It was then that I realized I was given the best role model possible. I could not be more thankful to have a mother who is strong enough to beat cancer and a family who is there for each other no matter what. My family’s happiness and health will always come before anything else for me. My family values have been instilled in me ever since sixth grade, the year my life changed, and as long as I have the support of my family I will be able to take on anything that comes my…

I currently have four pieces that mesh into two larger pieces. On my left arm there is a demon surrounded by cherry blossoms, and there is also a geisha holding a fan covering half of her face. The cherry blossoms indicate a new beginning surrounding my inner demon and the geisha represents inner beauty and outer beauty. On my right arm there is a samurai mask depicting my strong side and also an octopus expressing my ability to adapt to tough situations that approach me. This is my way of expressing the struggles and conflict in my life, while also expressing strengths and joys. My parents believe that if I wanted to express those emotions that I should write a book or speak about it. They grew up in a generation where tattoos were not popular and the only people that got them were sailors and people in the military. But the tattoos have meaning to me, deep meaning. I will remember what they represent for the rest of my life and they will never lose their meaning to me.…
