Conflict In The Short Story Thank You Ma Am

The short story “Thank You Ma’am” is about two characters have conflict in the first part of the story because roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones purse because he wants a pair of blue suede shoes and becomes very surprised when his plan doesn’t go as thought. Instead he gets caught by Mrs. Jones and instead of her calling the police she takes him to her home and gives him a washcloth to wash his face because it was dirty. By the description she gives about him in the story she says:” he looked as if he were fourteen or fifteen, willow and wild, in tennis shoes and blue jeans. In this story there are a lot of conflicts between Mrs. Jones and Roger internal and external the external conflict in this story is roger tries to steal
Jones and Roger the similarities in the story are is she mentions about how she have done things in her life to that’s she was ashamed of but in this case, this is one of the moments Roger should not be proud of and should learn from because that one bad decision that he made could have led to a very bad consequence and she teaches him to learn from his mistakes by being kind to him and telling him that he could’ve made a better choice and trying to steal someone’s purse was worst choice you could have ever chosen. The differences between the story and the movie is when Roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones purse in the story it says I was Eleven O’ clock but, in the movie it was broad daylight when Roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones purse. And during the struggle of Mrs. Jones trying to get roger to let go of her purse in the story, the strap of the purse breaks but, in the movie the strap of the purse breaks. Another difference in the story is Mrs. Jones Jobs in both story and movie in the story, she was a hair beautician and in the movie she worked at the hospital as a night nurse and she was coming home from work and that’s how her in Roger came in contact.
