that stern power over their employees, employees would run all over the company, work would not get done which then leads the company to fail.
The most common communication barriers that tend to take place in work places are: interpersonal issues, physical distraction and semantic barriers.
Interpersonal barriers are described as preconceived notions, which hinder the listener from the sender due to before hand judgment of the sender. In chapter 11, (Schermerhorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, pg246) physical distraction is described as interruptions from noises, visitors and the like, that interfere with communication. Lastly semantic barriers, which are explained as giving off mixed signals in the work place and or poor choice of words, used to other co-workers.
The term feedback is a response from recipient back to its sender; in order for feedback to be effective and constructive it must also be direct, specific and in a timely matter. In the context of interpersonal communication, feedback would be difficult due to the fact that individuals would not hear to the feedback because of personal reasons. It is important because if individuals can take feedback without preconceived notions, goals can be accomplished in the work
place.
With Hertz being one of the largest and most successful car rental companies worldwide, interpersonal communication is very important, goals are being met which adds success to the company. With feedback from employees and even consumers it helps Hertz succeed. “We are working hard to put our renters only in the best of what’s available, while meeting a range of customers’ tastes and need” according to Tom Frese, Hertz senior vp of fleet and procurement (2015).
