The human body and DNA is so complicated and has so much to it that small things could make a big difference. Humans are made of so many cells and DNA with different functions and uses but it could all go wrong with one gene. Results of these things happening are known as disorders. From things like Down Syndrome and Heart defects. Heart defects may not seem genetic but could be passed and is a family matter, things in a family’s history can show signs.
Heart defects also known as “congenital heart disease (CCHD)” is used to refer to a large “group of serious heart defects that are present from birth” (Reference and Medicine). This disorder comes from issues with the formation of one or more parts of the heart in the …show more content…
Symptoms are things such as: having a tint of purple or blue because of low amount on oxygen, a strange heartbeat, and irregular breathing, low blood pressure, and low levels of oxygen in the blood. People treated early have less health problems later, but there are long-term effects of heart defects like: “delayed development” and “reduced stamina” (Reference and Medicine). Adults with this disorder have a larger risk of having a stroke, heart failure, or a premature death etc. Heart defects affect the flow of blood throughout the heart and some involve defects in the two lower chambers of the heart or the valves (which control the flow of blood in the heart) and others affect the large vessels in and out the heart (Reference and Medicine). Heart defects are quite common with around 25,000 babies being born with it in the US; l out of every 115-150 …show more content…
Many features in the history could show signs of a genetic heart disorders. Things such as: more them one family member already being diagnosed with heart disease, sudden cardiac deaths or deaths at a young age, heart failure at young age which come along with weakness and being tired and shortness of breath, seizures that couldn’t be treated with regular medicine, strange heartbeat, and many other things (California). The true cause of heart defects is unknown but it is known to be a genetic and could possibly have to do with the environment (Reference and Medicine). The environment could be a factor because there is a risk of being exposed to chemicals or drugs before birth or the mother having things such as diabetes (Reference and Medicine). Researchers believe there could be a problem with the gene that controls the normal development of the heart before birth and this could make issues with the development of the heart (Reference and Medicine). Another belief is that there is an issuer with the copies of a certain gene; researchers still aren’t sure if the copy number could affect the development of the heart (Reference and
