could settle disputes logically, and peacefully. But since we all have this evil within us, we resort to war and mass killings and the falloff another nation. Another connection is to the television series Lost.
Like the boys in Lord of the Flies, they too are stranded on an island trying to be rescued. There was also a presence of a beast in the television series just as in the book. They also had pigs on the island like in the Lord of the Flies. On the same token, Survivor is also very similar to the Lord of the Flies and is even more similar than Lost is. Survivor also takes place on an island. Everyone starts off as friends in the show, just like in the book. Then, they split up into two groups in the show, just like the book. On the show, someone usually becomes the ultimate back stabber and will do anything to win. That would be Jack in the book. Another connection is to bullying today. Bullying is present everywhere. Doesn’t matter where you're from, what culture, race, or ethnicity you’re from, your age, social or financial status, you have seen, encountered, been a victim or even participated in bullying someone or was bullied. This is connected to Piggy in the book. Everyone bullies Piggy. They do this because he’s an outsider to them (Golding 68). He’s fat (1), wears glasses (2), has trouble with asthma (8), he has an accent (68) and he has very mature
ideas (10,11). Because of this, he is the butt end of many cruel jokes, activities, and gestures. This is mostly done by Jack in the book but everyone takes some part in it, even Ralph. We can connect Roger to Heinrich Himmler in World War II. Himmler was Hitlers executioner and torturer, just like Roger is to Jack in the book, “The yelling ceased and Samneric lay looking up in quiet terror. Roger advanced upon them as on wielding a nameless authority,” (202). We can also connect Jack to Hitler in World War II as well.
