Yes we do have the president but his power is shared with the supreme court justice. Even the governments power is separated. The executive branch enforces laws, the legislative branch makes laws, and the judicial branch tells if the law has been broken. (DOC B) Together federalism and the separation of powers make sure that one person cant do whatever they ant and become to powerful. Many people think that the checks and balances system deals with money. It doesn't.There are three branches of government. The branches are legislative, executive and judicial.If the House of Representatives feels that the president is too overpowered they can impeach or make the president resign. The president keeps the Judicial branch in check. The president can appoint justices.The Supreme Court can check the senate by making sure no laws are broken.The framers gave each branch the power to keep each other in check without causing tyranny. (DOC C) See, the checks and balances system is pretty simple free all! Lastly, we have large states verses the small states. Rhode Island did not show up to the meeting in Philadelphia because they felt that the other states weren't giving them enough power even though they had a representative. Delaware had only one representative and showed up because they had ore power. The Lara get states had more representatives because they had a larger population. This made the small states mad.
