As seen in Table 2, the percent composition of the Oreo Cookie was 70.87% cookie and the percent crème was 29.13% of the sandwich, while our hypothesis stated that it would be 60.00% cookie and 40.00% crème. On the other hand, our inference about the Market Pantry sandwich cookie percent composition was closer, but still off, as we inferred that it would be 70.00% cookie and 30.00% crème, while it was 73.28% cookie and 26.72% crème, as shown in Table 2. As displayed in our calculations, the homemade sandwich cookies are more expensive to make, at around $0.3403 per cookie, compared to the store bought cookies, which are $0.085 per cookie for the Oreo cookies and $0.055 per cookie for the Market Pantry cookie, which supports our hypothesis. In comparison, as shown in Table 2, the Market Pantry contained more cookie in its percent composition at 73.28%, while the Oreo Cookie was only 70.87% cookie. Additionally, the Market Pantry Cookie was 26.72% crème, while the Oreo Cookie was 29.13%. As cookie percentage increased, crème percentage decreased, displaying the negative correlation between the

The coupon program was an effective advertising tool that should be actively used during its introduction into other cities. The importance of retailing supermarkets and convenience stores in its distribution network was exemplified in its 90% purchase contribution. The sales mix of different pack sizes enabled Frito-Lay marketers to work out the average price per pound to be $2.701 approximately. In addition, the trial pack of 2.25 ounces could be seen as an effective advertising tool in trading customers up to bigger pack sizes of 7 and 11 ounces, in which these packs contributed 47% and 38% of purchases respectively. Lastly, the French onion flavor was preferred by consumers as this flavor contributed 55% of purchases, an excess of 10% of purchases in natural flavor.…

    Oreo's Cookie Analysis

The article, A more svelte Oreo will tempt the cookie's traditionalists, written by Washington Post was about "milk's favourite cookie", Oreo and their new cookie, Oreo Thins. These sandwich cookies are expected to be, "slightly wider and just a little over half as thick as the original wafers," according to Washington Post. The new design is interesting because the cookies are created to be consumed straight from the packet, instead of being twisted, licked and then dipped into milk like the original wafers. These new wafers are 7 calories less than the original, but are not meant to be eaten as a diet cookie. Oreo thins are will probably make a lot of profit, since Oreos are, without doubt, the most widely purchased cookies throughout history.…

The main goal of the Cookies unit was to solve the Unit Problem. The unit problem introduced us to the Woos, the owners of a cookie bakery. The Woos want to find the most profitable combination of plain and iced cookies to bake and sell in their store. We were given several constraints for this problem. According to the Woo’s recipes, a dozen normal cookies requires one pound of cookie dough, and a dozen iced cookies requires .7 pounds of cookie dough. The Woo family only has 110 pounds of cookie dough in stock, which will affect the number of cookies that can be made. The iced cookies also need icing, obviously. A dozen of iced cookies required .4 pounds of icing and the Woos only have 32 pounds of icing in stock. There are also limitations for the oven space in the Woo’s kitchen. It can only hold 140 cookies at a time. The last limitation that the Woo family’s problem has is time. The preparation time of the plain cookies is .1 hours, and the preparation time of the iced cookies is .15 hours. The Woo family only has 15 hours to prepare the iced and plain cookies for the oven. All of these constraints decide the number of cookies that you can and cannot have. The second half of the problem was concerning the combination of normal cookies and iced cookies that would give the most profitable result. A dozen of plain cookies cost $4.50 to make and sell for $6.00 and a dozen of iced cookies cost $5.00 to make, and sell for 7.00. So, they make a profit of $1.50 per dozen of plain cookies and $2.00 per dozen of iced cookies. The Woo family knows that they can sell all the cookies they make. The point of this problem was to find the most profitable combination of iced and normal cookies.…
