A patient in the waiting room of Corwin Dentistry tells me “My daughter was terrified of every hygienist that reached into her mouth, but ever since we met Shelly coming to the dentist has been a breeze.” Shelly is everyone's favorite hygienist and has provided my family with phenomenal dental care for the past two generations now. Shelly is far past retirement age; she refuses to retire because of the passion that she has for her job. I have always admired Shellys Shelly arrives at the clinic by six every morning. Shelly walks into the small lobby that is filled with chairs and magazines to greet this middle aged man with a warm smile and says to him “Dennis, how are you?” he replies “I’ve been doing good.” While walking through the small hallway back to the hygiene room he lets Shelly know about the sore tooth that he has and she lets him know that she will take a close look at it. While Dennis leans back into the dental chair he talks about his grandchildren and the recent trips that he has taken. Shelly says talks about how much she loves kids and the most recent place that she went sky diving in. Denise says “I have been spending so much money on bills lately I wonder if I could just use a fork to clean out my teeth.” Shelly giggles and responds with “it depends on how much you sharpen it.” Shelly knows all of tricks to being a hygienist. She has an amazing personality and a positive attitude. She has stayed with the same job for her entire life and continues to improve her skills to this day.
