Cosplay has had a profound effect on women’s lives in the convention scene as cosplayers can be objectified by the costumes they wear, they can be seen as oversexualized as an object of desire rather than as a person. Cosplay can be empowering giving the wearier a feeling of independence, power. Cosplay gives you the freedom to be whoever you want to be. Cosplay allows you to create your own identity. Some People have an unreasonable high expectation of what cosplayers should meet, to be able to cosplay their idolised heroine character.
