Old Testament? The word covenant is a pact or agreement between two or more
parties. The word covenant is far more descriptive and endearing when we seek to describe
God’s reaching out to man. I know that God is a covenanting person. He only enters into
relationship through covenant. And so with that said we are covenant people. The word
Covenant is all thru out the Old Testament, it is found 286 times in the Old Testament
and 33 times in the New Testament. Some examples of covenant being found in the Old Testament are as follows, in Lev 26:42 “I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land”, also in Exo 23:32 “You must make no covenant with them or with their god”, and again in Numbers 25:12 “Therefore, announce: “I am going to give to him my covenant of peace. God has initiated many covenants with different people throughout biblical history such
as with Adam, Noah, and Abraham, and more. A covenant was an agreement that God
would make between him and someone he deemed worthy of such, there are many different
convents in the Old Testament but it started with Adam, he was made in Gods image so it was a
covenant of marriage, we are Gods bride. Even when it is not explicitly used the covenant forms
part of the background of each passage or book. The concept of a covenant fellowship with God
gave the men of the Old Testament a mighty anchor to their faith. The covenant concept taught
the Hebrews that fellowship with God was an exclusive fellowship. They alone were His chosen
people.
The Mosaic Covenant was given to the people of Israel through Moses back on Mount
Sinai. It was a covenant containing not only The Ten Commandments but all of Gods laws. In its
contents were laws on personal injury,
