Creation Myths

When reading different creation myths one might notice reoccurring themes, some elements are more obvious than others. Understanding universal themes is important to comprehending creation myths, a popular element is a mother and father role. In a Maori creation myth it is believed that “Rangi and Papa are the primordial parents, the sky father and the earth mother” (). In many other myths the opposites are separated, female and male fall under that category. This gives explanation to why you hear “mother earth” so much, an important part of creation myths is explaining the most profound questions.
