The sounds of gunshots and rapid explosions pierce through Roy Mustangs ears. A grenade had detonated A few feet away from him, forcing him to fall into the ground below. The shrill cry of the woman he loves filled the dusty atmosphere around him. He frantically looked around, his eyesight obscured from the smoke. As it began to clear, Riza Hawkeye laid across the hot desert, the sand soaking up her blood from a leg that was blown away with the blast. She was holding her open wound, struggling to stop the bleeding. No other soldiers were around, only their remaining corpses. Roy quickly rushed over to her, shaking violently as he tried to wrap the wound with the bandages he had tucked underneath his uniform.

An Ishvalan was coming directly at them, with a gun aimed at their hearts. In panick, Roy threw himself on top of Riza's dying body. He had to protected the girl, and sacrifice all he had in order for her to survive. There was no escape. At the sound of the rifle's trigger being pulled, Roy finally awoke from his deep slumber.
His horrifying nightmares about Ishval are not uncommon, but sometimes it's a little too much for him to handle. He immediately noticed he was trembling, and put his arm across his face. He let out a sigh, and let his hand drift through the messy strands of his hair.

If it wasn't for May Chang arriving last second, he would not have been laying there with her at all. The guilt would be too much for him to bear.
Riza rested her hand on top of his. "I'm the one here to protect you. Don't you forget that Colonel."
His lips brushed up against her jaw gently.
"I'll follow you into hell and back sir, that will never change." She said reassuringly.
Roy pressed his lips to hers. Her warmth put him at ease, and he started to feel sleepy once again. He can't help but doubt himself after having terrible dreams like he had only but a few minutes earlier. At the exact moment, with Riza held tight in his arms, he knew that it was where he was supposed to be. The stunning woman in front of him was all he would need, he felt at times that she deserved so much more than him.
"I love you." He whispered into her ear, but she was already sound
