Body Paragraph
As the creature comes to sense of his reality and the essence of human nature, the creature learns of his creators, himself, and those that surround him. At the start of the novel
Victor creates the creature as his own. The creation comes to life but he seems to refuse to accept his obligations to it. Victor pushes the creator away, providing him no shelter, no love, no remorse. This is the start of the creatures mindset of he is a bad person. Victor states in chapter
15 “
I have good dispositions; my life has been hitherto harmless and in some degree beneficial; but a fatal prejudice clouds their eyes, and where they ought to see a feeling and kind friend, they behold only a detestable monster.”(Chapter 15)
All the creature wants is love

and compassion from others. As victor leaves in relief of no responsibilty, he leaves the creature in anger, abandonment and afraid. The creature is alone when he meets a family named the
DeLaceys who take in a young women named Safie. Here the creature learns of love. The creature attempts to emulate the DeLaceys love for one and other. The Delaceys welcome Safie with all they can. This is a big thing because she can’t speak their language but they show her love. The creature now sees what power love has on those around him. He sees that love can make people do things and he wants to emulate the love, which the DeLaceys have for each other. As the creature sees the love they have for Safie In teaching her language, the creature learns as well. Although he feels a sense of welcoming from these strangers, he still feels isolated. In chapter 15 the creature states
“I endeavoured to crush these fears and to fortify myself for the trial which in a few months I resolved to undergo; and sometimes I allowed my thoughts, unchecked by reason, to ramble in the fields of Paradise, and dared to fancy amiable and lovely creatures

Later on in the passage the creature learns to avoid unpleasant feelings and knows how to get around them. For instance, when feeling hungry he searches for food just as an infant has a natural reflex to suckle when they are hungry. Another baby like trait the author describes is when the creature says, “I was a poor, helpless, miserable wretch; but feeling pain invades me on all sides, I sat down and wept.” When feeling helpless babies cry because that is the only way they can express their emotions. The creature is expressing himself by crying because there is no other way he is able to.…

When he first meets people in a village he is immediately hated. He does not yet understand why and wishes only for the friendship and understanding. His next attempt is with a family living in a small cottage near the woodlands of which the monster resides. Learning from his previous encounter with the village people he waits months to attempt speaking to the cottagers. Upon seeing the departure of the DeLaceys from their home, the Creature expels his anger by “[lighting] the dry branch of a tree and [dancing] with fury around the devoted cottage... and the cottage was quickly enveloped in flames” (128). This violent change in the Creature’s behavior determines that misery by isolation has made him a fiend. Furthermore, when the Creature tries to seek out Victor, he accidentally stumbles across William, whom he finds out is M. Frankenstein’s son. Thinking that William means Victor, he says “you belong then to my enemy... you shall be my first victim” (131). The Creature’s reaction to his abandonment by Victor results in the murder of William. Lastly, when Victor destroys the female creature, the fiend murders Elizabeth on Victor’s wedding night: “the murderous mark of the fiend’s grasp was on her neck, and the breath had ceased to issue from her lips” (186). The Creature’s retribution for the annihilation of the female creature was to create misery for Victor, which he was successful in doing. In conclusion, the Creature compulsive behavior hurts the people who have mistreated him or caused his…
