Credit Repair
Introduction

Credit repair can produce dramatic results, potentially transforming the appearance of your credit reports and boosting your credit scores. Credit repair may even deliver major results in a reasonably short period of time. But it is not a magic cure for your credit woes; you will need to do some work. It is important at the outset of a credit repair effort to have a realistic perspective. But don't lower your expectations; just make the effort needed to produce genuinely awesome results.

Organizing Your Effort

There are three things you must do to insure that you credit repair project yields the best possible results. You must get control of your existing obligations by building a realistic and practical budget. You must

This is not longer enough. You can make your payments on time for years and still have terrible credit scores if you don't manage your revolving balances properly. For credit repair results you must understand the relationship between your balances and your credit scores. The FICO scoring model grades you on the amount of available credit that you use. The relationship between an account balance and its limit is called the balance to limit ratio.

For the best possible credit score you should reduce your balances so that you are using less than 20 percent of the available credit line. Specifically, the FICO model recognizes balance to limit ratios in 20 percent increments; 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 percent. The lower the balance, the higher your score will be. Don't underestimate this. You could lose over 100 points by running up a revolving balance to the

The FICO scoring model likes some credit types, but will penalize you for others. If you want to improve your credit scores you should use mainstream credit cards like MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. And you must avoid consumer credit, including store cards and the type of financing offered by furniture and electronics stores.

This type of debt is useless for credit repair success, and can even drag your scores down. There are a variety of reasons for the way FICO treats consumer debt; it typically comes with poor terms and high rates. It may also come with an attractive, but dangerous no-payment option which will mature into an unwieldy repayment plan. Still, this type of debt can be convenient, so use it if you wish, but pay it off when you need your credit scores to be at their best. Good luck with your credit

If you have bad credit, you are still able to improve your score. The Fannie Mae guide suggests not only paying your bills on time every month, but take additional steps as well. These include, but are not limited to, paying off credit cards every month, only applying for the credit you need, reminding yourself that credit cards are loans and that you will need to repay them, and try paying more than the minimum due each month. What if you don’t have a credit history,…

The topic for my final project is: Credit scores are a fair measure to help lenders estimate potential risk. Credit lenders take a big risk in borrowing large sums of money to people, so that’s why a credit check is taken in order to prove to the lenders you will be a responsible person and can afford to pay back what you borrow. My points of views for this topic are the people who already have a loan and people who are considering a loan for the first time. Also how to prepare yourself to get approved for a loan, and what to expect after you have the loan. I will like to organize my paper with useful information and provide pros and cons on loans, and what types of lenders are available to you.…

If you find errors on your credit report, what steps would you take to correct them? If I believe there's an inaccuracy anywhere on my credit report or find any errors on it, the steps that I would use to help me correct those errors would be; Step 1 Request a fresh report directly from the credit bureaus. Step 2 see if any information is missing from my report, Step 3 Collect data to prove my case, such as copies of canceled checks and creditor statements. For example, if my credit report shows that I owe money to a creditor that was paid in full, I need to find the statement that shows a zero balance, and saying that the bill was paid off. Step 4 I need to contact the agency whose report contained the error/wrong information with a letter stating why I’m contacting them. Also in that letter I need to provide my name, Social Security number and date of birth, and make sure to write professionally, without anger or threats, and include all the details, such as account numbers, invoice or check numbers and payment dates. After I write my letter I need to make it clear what I want changed and sign the letter. Once the letter is sent off to the bureaus, I wait for them to get my results back.…

In other words, if a lender doesn't want to report your credit history to the credit bureaus, there is no one to make them. This is obviously to your detriment if you're an excellent borrower, with a good payment history. For example, if you have a loan with a credit union, it may not be reported with all three credit bureaus. Credit Unions as a whole, are notorious for not reporting to all three credit bureaus. Installment Loans Believe it or not, paying off installment loans early actually does more harm than good. Installment loans require a certain number of payments over a specific amount of time. An example of an installment loan is a home, or car loan. The longer you keep an installment note in good standing, the higher your credit score will go. For that reason, its better to keep installment notes for the full term of the loan, if its financially feasible to do so. Knowing your credit score, and properly managing your accounts is the key to maintaining a good credit score. http://www.money-zine.com/Financial-Planning/Debt-Consolidation/National-Average-Credit-Score/ http://www.credit.com/products/credit_reports/The-Top-10-Credit-Mistakes.jsp…

    Getting Out of Debt

The first step in resolving past debt would be take a look at my credit reports. That way I could see all the information needed to get everything taken care of. I know from experience that credit reports provide information about the creditor, important dates, status of the accounts, and contact information that is very crucial in getting in touch with collection agencies and businesses. The next step I would take is to contact each creditor, ranging from oldest to most recent, and set up a payment arrangement. Creditors are usually tactful about setting up payment arrangements so that the customer is not required to pay the balance in full. One thing to take into consideration is that creditors, in most cases, will allow one to settle outstanding balances (in other words, to take a percentage off the balance). However, as far as credit score and creditors are concerned, it ultimately improves overall credit score to pay the full balance verses settle your account.…

Many organizations claim they will repair your credit with a fee, from the information that I have read no one should be using the credit repair services they are deceptive and a sham just to take your money. The reason why the repair services should not be used is because negative information will not be removed from a credit report unless it is 7 years old or 10 years if going through bankruptcy. If there is inaccurate information it can be investigated within 30 days and one can actually contact the reporting company to investigate on their own without a charge. Some actions that these organizations can take that should be a red flag is that they ask customers that they can use an employer identification number instead of their social security. These so called credit repair services will charge you in advance and organizations should not charge unless the work is complete.…
