Is it your destiny to become a criminal if your ancestors were? A social debate that continues to spread around the world, causing controversy because of the strong comments people make about it is wether criminal behavior is caused by genetics or by the environment a person grows up in, this phenomenon is called scientifically the “Nature vs. Nurtrure” debate.
Genetics define who you are physically but not personally, humans share 99.99% of the same DNA information, we all look almost the same; we have 2 eyes, 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 ears, a nose, etc. The thing that makes us different is our personality and our thoughts.
Criminals aren´t so different from common people, we all have evil inside us but they take that evil to a whole new level, there’s a few special cases, like necessity, people that need to feed a numerous family and there’s no work opportunities so they take the only way possible; thefts and kidnapers for instance, some countries have implemented laws for these cases, for example Canada forbids family members to pay the rescue money to kidnapers, with this the have tried to decreased the kidnap rate, successfully.
I don´t think destiny is written for us in our DNA, not because our parents had made mistakes and are bad people means we are going to be like them just because it’s in our DNA. The personality of a person develops due to the experiences they had but mostly due to the interaction between two, I mean the way others have been with that person and the way he/she has reacted to that treatment, the interaction with society. I strongly believe that the environment is the cause of the criminal behavior in a person. I think every decision you take makes you become more like what you are supposed to become, but the thing is that you got the chance to choose, if you want to be a bad person or a good person. The levels of education have shown a definitive influence on criminal behavior.
