The fairy tale “Cinderella” is about a girl whose father died and is left with her stepmother and stepsisters. Cinderella is pretty much a maid and servant to them. That is where I come to say that the stepmother is illegally detaining Cinderella. She never gets to talk to other people or what it seems go off the property. I would say this is illegal detainment, but by ohio law unlawful restraint. “No person, without privilege to do so, shall knowingly restrain another of the other person's liberty”(ORC).
There is also child endangerment because the stepmother uses excessive discipline. “Administer corporal punishment or other physical disciplinary measure, or physically restrain the child in a cruel manner or for a prolonged period, which punishment, discipline, or restraint is excessive under the circumstances and creates a substantial risk of serious physical harm to the child”(ORC). Cinderella is just a servant, maid and slave to her stepmother and stepsisters. Cinderella’s mental health seems to be a huge issue and it is getting worse because the way she gets treated.
