Criminal Justice Workplace Observation paper When working in the criminal justice fields it takes experience and commitment to pursue a career as an officer. When taking into consideration in the criminal justice career one is willing to give up the time and liveliness that it will take to become the best in their field. This paper will focus on the organizational behavior factors that have the most significant influence such as leadership, culture, systems, law, and influential stakeholders. The Beaufort Count Sherriff’s Department in Beaufort, South Carolina is a strong law enforcement force and presence in the community. The leadership of the Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department is a strong but reliable presence to its employees. The leadership at the Sherriff’s department consists of the Sherriff, the Chief Deputy, captain, and the lieutenant.
The behavior of the leadership at the Beaufort County Sherriff’s Department definitely has an influence on the employees. Law enforcement agencies have different levels of culture from the officer pounding the beat to the Chief of Police. Each level comes with its own level of headaches that can and cause enormous amounts of stress. Cooperation at the different levels is a must for all agencies that come in contact with one another. The picture of each department has been painted by the media in one way or another and need to make certain that an accurate picture has been painted as well as the culture of the departments systems, how the system works, how the laws and how our jobs influence the stakeholders.
