This module takes ideas from a range of disciplines (including some of the greatest thinkers of all time) to help understand, analyse and resolve ethical dilemmas in management. There has been a growing interest in the ethics of business and what is generally referred to as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and Sustainability. Whilst these terms have a number of synonyms and a variety of different uses, they all relate to issues about society, the economy and the environment.…

First, the Journal of Business Ethics provides publications on ethical issues related to business, and analyses of systems of production, consumption, marketing, economic accounting, public relations, and organization behavior. I chose it because of its amazing frequency of 29, dating from 1982 till present (2011). Also, in one of its issues in 2011 by Shum and Yam, they suggest a new model that is rapidly growing called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that can fulfill social and economic responsibility simultaneously. It continues by explaining how managers that adopt CSR model will attain profits in their business enterprise. Implementing the use of CSR to our company would help our company rapidly grow and achieve good social ratings when appropriate legal and ethical controls are in place (Shum and Yam, 2011). Furthermore, the style of writing is impeccable; it shows pyramids, statistical data and diagrams explaining the CSR model and interprets the results of each data in a clear and concise way.…

The word ‘ethics’ is derived from the Greek word ‘ethos’ meaning an individual’s character and a community’s culture. Business ethics is a fuzzy area. No universal sets of ethical principles exist and what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ depends on the circumstances. To instil ethical values into corporate and the employees that inhibit, businesses must have vision about what they exist for, shared by everyone connected to the business. The new focus on ethics is due to the boost, the ‘brand value’ with ethical behaviour. People prefer working for firms which are ethical and in turn are their assets An attempt has been made to study the following aspects: • • To examine the extent of agreement on ethical issues related to business. To study impact of personal characteristics and ethical behaviour of mangers in corporate. • To study the effect of cultural and gender issues on ethical behaviour of managers. Gender issues could not be analysed due to managers unwilling to give their names and details. A questionnaire (Appendix 1) was sent out to 500 managers and a response of 52% was there. The sectors approached were Software Industry, Engineering and Electronics Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Agriculture and Chemical Industry, Banking Industry, Foreign Industry etc. The thesis is entitled, “A Study on the Agreement of Ethical Issues of Corporate Sector”. Due to the untimely death of Dr. Druti Shah-Taylor of Cambridge University, U.K only 10 % of the responses was from there. The thesis is composed of eight chapters. Chapter I is an overview of ethical issues in corporate. The researcher made use of the libraries and institutions in Ahmedabad to present this overview which covers observations and theory to date.…

Nowadays in the era of economic relations and international trade business ethics plays a very important role. It is of vital importance at any level of activity: corporate, state or international. Questions of corporate social responsibility and business ethics are engaging business more and more - both domestically and internationally (Sims 2006). This tendency is emphasized by outrageous cases in international trade illustrated by violating rules of ethical behavior. Rules and regulations on ethics and behavior are affected unavoidably by basic values about the goal of company in the community. However, some organization members think the only social goal of a company is to gain benefit. On the other hand, other members consider that that the goal of a company is much wider than one of gaining profit and that all those participants who are influenced by the firm 's activity - shareholders, staff, consumers, suppliers, the domestic society, babies (in particular concerning environmental protection) - have a reasonable concern and commitment in the corporate activity. Many of these commitments are important to a company whether it is domestic or international in its activity. Nevertheless, international companies face specific difficulties and requirements and above those operating only in local market.…
