1)I think after reading all the articles and chapters till now, this is the first time when i have truly felt CSR could actually be possible and make a difference from an Internal Stakeholder point of view. Profitability is seen to be the number one goal for a manager, that also usually at any cost. Interface has shown and proven that applying CSR properly can not only help the company give back to the society, but also, attain competitive advantage through it.
Interface has shown that by using technology in the right way, they can reduce the impact that is made to the society/environment. In interface's case, they used renewable resources such as biobased fibers to replace oil based products. They ensure that all decisions in the company take into account sustainability and having an independent team auditing the progress that is being made. They have set a goal called Mission Zero. They are striving to become carbon neutral in the next 10 years. Not only are such steps helping the society but its helping them reduce cost and increase sale. Its definitely a plus when they market this product.
For other companies, this is definitely the way forward. As time progresses, with the natural resources depleting, companies with alternative resources will definitely have an advantage over other companies. Also, we are seeing with education, more and more people are conscious about CSR and this can be used to market the products as well.
