II. Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to see how iron reacts with a copper (II) chloride solution.…
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to carry out an extensive series of reactions based on…
The objective of this experiment was to identify the unknown pure copper salt compound of #9. To do this, the mass of copper in the unknown was calculated and then divided by the mass of the whole compound to get the percent copper. The molecular weight was also calculated by dividing mass of copper compound used by moles of compound in unknown sample. The percent copper averaged out to 31.6% while the molecular weight of the sample averaged out to 201.1mw. In conclusion, the unknown compound of pure copper salt was close to Cu(C2H3O2)2 •H2O which has a percent copper of 31.8% and a molecular weight of 199.654mw.…
1. CoCl42- ions are present in this solution as they are blue colored and the color of the Cobalt Chloride solution was blue when we recorded the color and appearance of the solution.…
Determine the water of hydration in a copper chloride hydrate sample. Conduct a reaction between a solution of copper chloride and solid aluminum. Use the results of the reaction to determine the mass and moles of Cu and Cl in the reaction. • Calculate the empirical formula of the copper chloride compound.…
What happens to the mass of the copper carbonate when it is heated? Give a conclusion, which describes why the mass of copper carbonate may have changed during your experiment.…
In this experiment, we took a look at how copper (Cu0) reacts with different substances to get an end result where it is transformed back to its original state. There were five different reactions that involved copper. We first experimented with copper metal and converted it to copper (II) nitrate. We then converted copper (II) nitrate to copper (II) hydroxide. Next, we converted copper (II) hydroxide to copper (II) oxide. After that, out next conversion was from copper (II) oxide to copper (II) sulfate. Our last conversion was from copper (II) sulfate back to a copper metal.…
Copper Cycle Summary During the copper cycle lab, my partners and I performed a series of reactions on copper powder and observed the changes it underwent. For the first step, we mixed nitric acid and copper powder, and noticed that a yellowish brown gas emerged, along with effervescence. The red solid disappeared and became a blue liquid.…
A sample of copper sulfate pentahydrate (6.285g) was weighed out. The copper sulfate pentahydrate was dissolved in water (11.99mL) in a 250mL beaker. The solution was heated on a hot plate to 90 degrees Celsius. A sample of potassium oxalate monohydrate (10.006g) was dissolved in water (50.0mL).…
What problem(s) did the researchers study and why? Due to significant health risks in different types of central venous lines such as CVC, PORT or t-CVC, the problem researchers studied in this systematic review was to analyze different literature that compares the use of central venous lines and PICC lines in order to validate the advantages that accompany PICC lines.…
Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to become accustomed with different types of aqueous reaction types. Our task will be to use a variety of chemical forms to transform copper metal back to its solid state. If copper is transformed through five different reactions ending is solid copper…
We made observations of the Copper(II)Chloride Dehydrate, and then we observed it once it wad added to the distilled water. We noticed that it was turquoise powder and then once added into the distilled water it turned green. We then added the Aluminum Foil into the solution and it got hot and turned blue like kool-aid.…
In this experiment, 5.281g of trans isomers of [Co(en)2Cl2]Cl was synthesized from 12.249g of CoCl2▪6H2O. First, CoCl2▪6H2O was reacted with ethlenediamine (NH2CH2CH2NH2) that formed [Co(en)2(H2O)2]Cl. Then the [Co(en)2(H2O)2]Cl was reacted with H2O2 to change the cobalt’s charge to cobalt(III) from cobalt(II). Finally HCl was added into the solution to form [Co(en)2Cl2]Cl. The percent yield was 45.51%.To synthesis trans isomers of [Co(en)2Cl2]Cl, distilled water was first mixed with CoCl2▪6H2O, the solution color was changed to wine color. After ethlenediamine (NH2CH2CH2NH2) was added, the color of the solution changed to blood color, and kept its color until the solution was heated (formed brown spit). HCl was added into the solution, and…
