Communication is critical aspect of service. It can break down barriers, improve service, and support health outcomes for patients. To maximize the quality care, it is important to recognize differences and not stereotype. Because, someone of the same ethnicity can have very different beliefs and practices. It is important to use verbal and non-verbal communication to understand the cultural impact on communication. Making eye contact, greeting, gesture, and patience. If an international or elderly patient is unable to speak English, use an interpreter or it may be useful to learn simple phrases in their languages.
