Cultural Value

Cultural Values Essay: The definition of value is “The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance or preciousness of something (Dictionary.com).” For example something valuable would be before my grandma passed away she gave me a necklace that is something valuable to me because of her giving me a necklace that came from her. Cultural value is the commonly held standards of what is acceptable or unacceptable, important or unimportant, right or wrong, workable or unworkable, etc., in a community or society (Businessdictionary.com).” one example would be my family’s lifestyle.
In my cultural my grandma had taught me that when I was young we couldn’t be by the adults unless we are telling them “Hi” and then we had to leave the room. I was also taught to respect my elders because they are the ones with the most wisdom and when they come over the house all of the young children had to give up their seats for the adults. My cousins and I had to respect each other. My grandma also taught me “If I don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it” and when there are people who are irritating me to ignore them and walk away so the problem doesn’t get worst. My mom taught me that even though my oldest sister is my half-sister she is still blood and that we should all help each other out because when I need help my sisters and brothers are there for me. My mom also taught me to always help out my family especially my grandparents because they took care of me growing up. There are two roles that my family goes by and that is respect and keeping our family tradition on the holidays. In my cultural my family is mostly Christian and most of us go to New Hope Windward but there are a few that are catholic and they don’t really go to church. Then there are the ones who listen to only rock music. As for me I am Christian but I like to listen to all types of music especially rock but I listen to the old type of rock like AC/DC and others similar. But I still go
