The curious incident of the dog in the night is a book about a young man that goes by the name of Christopher john Francis Boone. Although he is a precise, honest, and intelligent boy, Christopher has a common disorder known as Asperger’s syndrome. Due to this common syndrome he has the inability to imagine the thoughts and feelings of other people. He does not understand how sarcasm works, or determine different moods with facial expressions. Christopher has “written” this book to write about the mystery of a murdered dog.
Christopher is remarkable in the subjects of math and science. He has a computer like mind when it comes to solving different problems. Things have to be a certain color and/or exactly up to his expectations. Examples of this are whenever he sees a red car or even nine of them, he would have a (super) good day. If he were to glance at a yellow car, it would mean he will have a bad day. He only likes certain foods and refuses to do so of anything he wouldn’t like.
If things aren't precise, it could upset him very much.
Honesty is an important trait in people but it’s safe to say Christopher is a little too honest at all costs. When he makes a promise, he is obligated to keep it. In the book he may stretch the truth sometimes. But it is only to find the missing pieces of his murder mystery. Christopher doesn’t like to ‘small talk’ with people. It’s childish and useless in his mind. He only talks about things worth talking about really. That is if he even feels the need to talk to someone randomly. His honesty is impeccable.
Prime numbers are easy and fun for him to figure out. It’s like a puzzle yet to be revealed. Christopher is very intelligent. But his best subjects are math and science. When he grows older he wants to be a spaceman. “The mind is just a complicated machine” said Christopher. He is a very intelligent young man.
