Domestic violence is a cycle of abuse and leads to a growing culture of violence. Violence should be condemned including not only the killing, but the abuse in homes. People who commit domestic violence have learned their behavior through experience and believe they have a right to be violent. Nearly half of men who abuse their wives also abuse their children. Children particularly suffer from devastating effect of the cycle of violence. The cycle of domestic violence tends to continue from generation to generation. Victims of domestic violence can experience severe depression, stress, and lack of trust towards family members. Young people who are continuously exposed to violence, “Children who grow up in violent homes are more likely to develop alcohol and drug addictions and to become abusers themselves” (The Teach Early). Verbal as well as physical violence are equally destructive and prevent society from attaining peace. Derogatory jokes and disrespectful language are also a part of verbal violence. A violent relationship includes more than just physical abuse; it can include technology, pressure, and threats in a relationship. The Commandments show the way to live God’s word, “Thou shalt not kill”. Surrounding media can easily persuade that violence is encouraged and proclaimed as harmless. In some scenarios police officers are faced with the choice of using deadly force in order to save their life and the lives of others. Defending citizens is part of the numerous duties of law enforcement and is to be taken into consideration when protecting the people. Protecting a country by use of war is also an extreme measure and should be a last resort. A country should also uphold the duties required to protect its allies. Sometimes a lack of action can lead to a larger and more dangerous situations and abusers. Although violence may be necessary occasionally, “Our society seems to be growing numb to human loss and suffering. A nation born in a commitment to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is haunted by death, imprisoned by fear and caught up in the elusive pursuit of protection rather than happiness” (Confronting
