There are many different causes to the reason why someone would have cystitis.
Women that insert tampons when they have their period slightly risk of inserting bacteria via the urethra. When someone that goes to the restroom and do not empty his/her bladder completely, are creating the possibility of bacteria to multiply in the bladder. This is slightly common among pregnant women or men whose prostates are enlarged. Cystitis can also be cause do to diabetes. Elderly people have a higher risk of having cystitis at nursing homes. Also when you stay still do to surgeries or injuries immobile for a long period of time you are more likely to develop cystitis because of not emptying your bladder
constantly.
Symptoms vary from person to person and/or conditions related to the diseases. Symptoms that occur do to Cystitis are as followed back pain, fever, vomiting, nausea, urgent, frequent, or painful urination, strong or foul smelling urine, pressure or cramping in the lower middle abdomen that last for several hours or even longer. Sometimes you may have traces of blood in your urine. Urine can also be dark and/or cloudy. Pain in the abdomen and above the pelvic bone. Older women may feel weak and feverish but have none of the other symptoms. When children have cystitis they may have any of the symptoms listed above, plus vomiting, and general weakness. Symptoms vary and depending on how long have u had it or paid attention to it is how developed it could be and treatment would be based on that. Treatment for cystitis is antibiotics depending on if it’s your first time it would be medication up to a week. If you have repeated cystitis then the medication would be prescribed for a longer period. In order for the medication to work you would have to take to medication from beginning to end without any interruption. People that feel better sometimes decide to stop taking the medication but by doing that it is harder to be treated. For a simple bladder infection antibiotics would be prescribed 3 days for women or 7-14 days for men. If the bladder infection is more complicated do to pregnancy or diabetes, or even a slightly kidney infection you would be prescribed medication for up to 7-14 days There is always ways you can take care of yourself to prevent cystitis. By doing the following when you urinate empty your bladder completely, if you feel the need to urinate go right ahead do not wait. You have to avoid wearing tight underwear or even tight pants. If wearing underwear use 100% cotton. Always but always wipe from front to back never from back to front and always use a clean tissue. If been sexually active make sure sexual organ is lubricated if necessary use lubricant. Right after having sex make sure you empty your bladder completely. Avoid using perfumed soaps or deodorants or sprays around your vaginal areas. Drink lots of fluids mainly water and constantly empty your bladder. Always remember to practice good hygiene and stay safe. Cystitis is a very commonly disease that is developed in your bladder and can be treated. If treated on time you can get rid of it in less than 3 days. If not practicing good hygiene you develop causes and symptoms. Treatment for cystitis is antibiotics and can last from 3-14 days depending on your infection. Hygiene is a big role in cystitis so making sure that you watch for symptoms will help you detect cystitis.
