The outside work didn’t always end when the sun went down. On one particular night during lambing, I found myself out in the barn, finishing up feeding the orphan lambs. To my great surprise Carmen suddenly appeared in the barn. Why she came out to the barn I had no idea. She said she hated the sheep. While I was still completely confused what has drawn her to the barn, she started asking me questions that I was surprised she was so open with. We talked about what she has asked me while she helped me finish feeding the lambs. We then went in the house to fix us a snack of yogurt and granola and tuna toast while we finished our conversation. I realized how much I enjoyed her …show more content…
Our transportation coming home that night was a four wheeler, and no we hadn’t drove it there. Once at home, my cousin Kim and I went in the house to prepare a snack of yogurt and berries, ( not granola), and tuna toast, after Carmen declined our offer to help her do chores. Kim and I chatted while we waited for Carmen, we didn’t even touch the food. When Carmen arrived we found out she was not interested in talking or the food, so Kim and I ate the food. We saved the talking for another night, first we all had to ponder the evening for ourselves, so, we went to bed.
Life went on because it had to. It was a few days later before I have a chance to talk to Carmen. First and foremost she had regained her appetite, thankfully. ( She was never the girl that watched what she ate. If eating made her happy, then she ate.) We then discussed the night at Mitchell’s and realized we both look at people differently. Maybe so in a more harsh way, but then again some people have no respect for the human race, sobeit. We were both happy to realize some people still had
