    Beanie Monologue

I pulled my beanie securely on my head as I crouched down on a sturdy tree branch. My hunting knife reflected the dim light of the moon. It glinted letting my prey know I was there. "Yeah, I love a good chase!" I jumped from branch to branch as I chase my target. His brown hair was starting to gray but he ran pretty good for someone in their late forties. At least that's what boss lady said. I jumped down quietly as the man began to get tired. He began huffing as his pace slowed. I knocked into his back sending him into a tree. His chest heavily moved with his ragged breaths. I slowly approached him as I pulled my hunting knife back out. "Let play," I said in a deadpan tone. My eyes lost their light as I stared down at him.…

"I know," said Peter, interested; "two buck rabbits will fight all day if you let them, but they won't hurt a doe." "No; and quite wild beasts — lions and elephants — they're immensely gentle with the female beasts. And we've got to be, too." "I see," said Peter. "…

" A red haze filled my mind and I slowly relaxed"(P.67) The switchblade felt cold and foreign in my hand, but I clutched it tightly, desperation driving me forward. I didn't want to hurt anyone, and I didn't want to be part of this senseless violence, but there was no turning back now. I saw the fear in Bob's eyes as the blade sliced through the air, brushing over his throat, making a clean, straight line. Time seemed to slow, each heartbeat reverberating in my ears as the world narrowed down to just me and him.…

The cold winter’s wind snaps at my face as I walk briskly down the street. The fog makes it impossible to see more than 5 metres in front of me. I look up just in time to see two figures appear out of the fog coming towards me. Running towards me. My feet are frozen to the ground.…

My anxiety flutted around in my chest and gripped each breath like a vice. The daunting and steep steps danced in my mind making the simple task of walking up stairs more difficult than the impossible task to run a mile in a minute. Next, a boy pushed the door open behind him almost as an afterthought, but in my chaotic mind it was the best thing all morning to happen. On the dreadful first day of school, chivalry was not dead, or at least that’s how I was able to comprehend his actions. I glanced around unsurely before starting to slowly walk towards the freshman commons; each eye that meets mine screamed enthusiasm.…
