Suddenly, my vision went blurry, and I felt myself wheezing as darkness took over my body.
I awoke in my bed at Aunt Dana’s house. Once she saw that I was awake, she rushed toward me as I bombarded her with a stream of questions. “Auntie, is she really dead? What happened to me? Was it an asthma attack? Could you give me my glasses? Is-” “SHHH!” said my aunt. “ Calm down Ronald. Here are your glasses. Your mother is not dead yet, but I’m afraid she will be soon. I wish that you were able to see her again, but the doctors will not permit it, as he fears that seeing her may frighten you. Upon hearing she was nearer to death, you had an asthma attack and blacked out. Now, as I expect you are hungry, let’s go to my sweet-shop for something to eat. Perhaps eating some sweets will take your mind off of this.” Normally, eating sweets would take my mind off of things, but this time it didn’t. As we ate dinner, I found that I could barely eat. Aunt Dana tried cheering me up, but had no success. Once we got home, I went straight to bed even though it was only 6:00. That night I dreamt of the last time I saw my mother.
*** My last memory with my mother is when she took me to the doctor two years ago. I had been having a large number of asthma attacks. My mother was getting concerned, so she brought me to my doctor. The visit went smoothly, and my doctor had gave me more asthma medication. As we were leaving the office, my mother complained of feeling a sudden dizziness and then fainted. She was brought into the doctor’s office, where she was diagnosed with descolada. The doctor then sent me out of the room as my mom was dragged away by other medical staff, and I haven’t seen her since then. That was one of the worst days of my life, and I remember it often. After that day, people began bullying me more than ever. Most likely, because I gained a bunch of weight by eating sweets from my aunt’s shop as a way to distract myself from the sorrows of missing my mom. I cried quite often, and even sometimes cried at school. Other kids began noticing this and started taunting me. Then one day, someone called my Piggy, and I have been called by that name by everyone at school since then.
