Danielson in his framework for teaching include that one of the responsibilities of teachers is to build communication with parents, and included in this domain is engaging families in the instructional program. Hence, parents have the right to ask questions or verify the legitimacy of the activities their children are doing in class or will do at home. As a teacher, I will not be offended by the letter considering the father is only responding in behalf of his child, and expressing his opinion what he believes to be what needed to be taught.
