There is an weird hidden message behind this sin, it’s not at all like the hell we think of today. It’s completely different then our hell, with fire, and burning things everywhere. John Sergio explains circle nine this way, “Those in the ninth circle, the traitors to friends, family, and country, are frozen in ice, a most fitting punishment for their icy hearts. Though logically all the sinners in hell suffer the same consequence-eternal separation from the presence and love of God-those in the lower regions of hell have committed more serious sins and suffer more.” When we think of hell we usually don’t think of frozen ice, and body within the ice. So this is the really message, Dante is trying to make a hell of his own due to what he has been through. In the first circle there would be the sinners who lie and steal from others, there punishment would be to be buried under ground every night before they go to bed basically having there night life stolen from them. In my second circle of hell there would be greedy people, there punishment would be to be attacked by biting beetles the whole time. So they have all the beetles they want all over their body. In my third circle of hell I would have treacherous people who have wrong anyone at all, there punishment would be to get stabbed in the back by a bunch of spears constantly because they didn’t have people’s backs when they need them. In my last circle the fourth circle I would have to violent sinners there, if you committed murder or any violence on someone else this is where you would go forever. The punishment would be to watch your crime over and over again in your head while, having your limbs cut off by the person you wronged. In my hell I believe that violence is the most wrong sin or all that you can do to another person. My hell is not as long as Dante’s because I think that people who make silly mistakes should not be punished for them, especially if they learn from
