Cox recently spoke to TVLine, where he spoke about the new scene involving a hallway that has been hinted on in the Daredevil Season 2 trailer.
“What was nice about doing that scene is it was almost exactly a year off from the [original] sequence, and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, this is a tall order,’” Cox said, adding that he was initially uncertain about trying to top the jaw-dropping action sequence that showed off his character’s skills.
“Obviously we’re going to try to pay homage to the scene from Episode 2, Season 1 — is that something we should even attempt?” he asked, although he was quick to add that he had confidence in the people who would make it possible.
“I had complete trust in Phil Silvera, the stunt coordinator, and [stunt double] Chris Brewster, who are really the best in the trade at what they do,” Cox confirmed.
As exciting as it sounds to have yet another awesome hallway scene in Daredevil, Cox admitted it wasn’t easy for him to pull it off, especially in his new costume and Frank Castle in tow.
“It was very, very hot in New York, and it begins with me carrying Jon Bernthal over my shoulder for about a minute and a half — and that guy is heavy, pure muscle! So before I even threw a punch or a kick, I was sweating through my suit,” he revealed.
It may have been difficult for Cox and the Daredevil crew to go through with the sequence, but in the end, he confirmed that it was all worth it.
“It was a huge challenge for everyone, including the camera operator, because most of it takes place in a stairwell, but it’s one of my great memories of Season 2, and the thing I’m most excited for the fans to see,” Cox said.
The second season of Daredevil airs on Netflix on March 18.
