I literally had a hole in my arm that I didn't know how deep it was and didn't want to find out. “Want to get up, move around a little bit, i need to grab something from my car” said my dad. “Sure”. “You look retarded when you walk”. “That's because I have a swollen knee, a cut knee, and a really bad cut on my hip”. “Manely my swollen knee is making me not be able to walk”. “I would assume so”. My arm started going numb, i'm not sure if it was because the fear of what I knew would happen, the blood wouldn't stop coming and maybe it was adjusting because I've never had that bad of a cut before, but maybe it was just healing. The possibilities were endless.
It was ten-thirty and I still wasn't in the in the office. The only way the night would go faster is if i did the thing I do best and had fun with it. As i was thinking of what I could do I was stuck because I needed to move in someway that my cuts would not allow. I couldn't do anything. The negativity was just too much I could handle. So I decided to text every body and see how fast they responded. It was over in twenty minutes so that was no use. Once the longest night of my life was about to end in one hour I heard the words I have been waiting for all night “Jacob were ready for you”. “Finally”. But suddenly some guy got up and walked right in “you've gotta be kidding me”. “Uggghhh I hate this place”. By this point all my fear was gone I didn't care. What was going to happen is going to happen I just wanted to get in there make it quick, and leave. “Sorry wrong Jacob, anyways Jacob Hoban”. “Yes finally it took so long but finally i'm in”. I finally stood up proud but then i got a cold chill and became all shaky. All i wanted was to get it done,

Walking into work I smell the aromas of a nursing home. I hear the sounds of wheel chairs and walkers scraping against the hard wood surface. As I walk to station one, I stop by the break room to store my food. The room is full of people charting the prior shift. Walking out of the room, I continue to station one. Finding the cork board with the neon green paper, I see what hall I am working. There is only my name and one other on spring hall. While medical care was available growing up, there were financial or situational periods where it was not necessarily accessible. I am from a single parent family. My mother moved in with my grandparents after her divorce and works two full time jobs to help provide for my brother, grandparents, and I. Since my father went to jail and my grandfather passed, we have had to make many adjustments financially. This was the case due to my father not providing payments for child support for the time he was incarcerated nor occasional months prior. There has also been a complication with my mother and I having our identity stolen, which has created additional problems when applying for governmental aid throughout my undergraduate years. I worked…

To come out of the darkness now would be to show courage of a type that ‘’d never had to show before, never even known about. I had to search my own mind and body to find if there was a new part of me somewhere.”…
