Dave Matthews Research Paper

Born on January 9, 1967, David John “Dave Matthews”, is a South African-American lyricist, actor and musician. He is popularly known as a guitarist, songwriter and lead vocalist for his band, the Dave Matthews Band. Dave was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and grown up in South Africa and the United States. He was the third of four children of Valerie and John Matthews. When he was two, his family migrated to Yorktown Heights in Westchester Country, New York. Before his father’s death in 1977, the family moved to Cambridge for a year. At the age of nine, he started playing acoustic guitar and mainly plays the same now. He got his graduation degree from St. Stithians College in 1985.

This event changed his lookout on life which was observed in few of his songs as well. He dedicated his one of the performance in the memory of his sister when he was staged with Tim Reynolds. Since then, he has given many solo performances. In the tenure of ten years from 2000 to 2010, his band sold a lot more tickets as compared to the other bands in North America. Later in the year 2003, he released a solo album, Some Devil, whose single Gravedigger won a Grammy Award in 2004. In 2011, Dave shook hands with Steve Reeder and Sean McKenzie, the wine makers and created Dreaming Tree Wines. Before getting popular with music, Matthew was an amateur actor who appeared in several onstage productions at Charlottesville’s offstage Theater and Live Arts theater in early 1990s.
He was also a part of casting team and performer in Before the Music Dies, a much known music documentary. With the release of their latest album Away From the World, in 2012, the band became the first band to have six back-to-back studio albums ranking as number one at the billboard
