- People, human beings, carry out the tasks, projects, and major strategies in any organization. When a leader understands this it can make the difference between frustration and joy, mediocrity and greatness, failure and success. If more leaders really understood human motivation and dynamics imagine the impact it would have on organizational work environments, performance and satisfaction.
A. Conformity Conformity involves changing your behaviors in order to fit in with the people around you. In some cases, this might involve agreeing with or acting like the all the people in a specific group, or it might involve behaving in a particular way in order to be known as "normal" by the group or an organization.
I-A. Definition of Conformity Conformity can be known as yielding to group persuasion, something which nearly all of us do some of the time. For example, you go with friends to see a movie. You didn't think the movie was awesome, but all your friends thought that it was absolutely brilliant. You might be tempted to conform by pretending to agree with them on the film rather than being the left out of a conversation or situation. II-A. Why Do we Conform? Some people have found out that people conform in many different reasons, looking to the rest of the group for things for how we should behave that can be actually helpful. Other people might have greater knowledge or experience than we do, so following their lead can actually be good. In other situation, we conform because we want to avoid looking foolish to our group.
