Three Major Causes of WW1 There were a lot of reasons for the cause of WW1 but there were three in particular that were major reasons: militarism, alliances, and imperialism. Lots of wars were fought and some deadly more so than others. The underlying cause of WW1 was the war and the disagreements between countries. WW1 was a major war and disagreements between the countries were major problems. Militarism in my opinion was the biggest cause of WW1. For instance, in 1914 on Document C it shows Germany with the biggest army and navy and in 1910 Great Britain had the strongest military. In this Document it shows how important a strong army can be and how important it is. Though it also shows a how and how little an army was
in some countries and how vital it was for them to have a bigger army. Alliances isn’t has important militarism, but if you have alliances with other country’s, that is a great factor to have. In Document B it shows an illustration of different country’s pointing at each other on which they thought started the war. Though there are some countries that aren’t pointing at each other because they are allies. I do believe having an alliance with another country or being allies with multiple countries is vital during a WW1. Imperialism was important but, wasn’t as important as the other two, though imperialism was a major cause of WW1. In Document D it talks about how countries strengthen their countries power, and how they become more of a threat to other countries. I do believe by strengthening your countries power, you pose more of a threat to other countries and can build a greater army and be allies with more countries. Although there were many reasons why WW1 started these three reasons were major ones because what happened and how countries had acted during this war.
