An advantage of living by a river would be having an accessible supply of fish near your house. For example in document four it states that the rivers gave people fish this was an advantage because you can cook fish to eat or to trade and sell. A second advantage would be the products you can make from water. Document five states that
water from nearby rivers could be used to make products such as mud bricks and clay tablets. Even though these are not used much in America today it can be profitable in other cultures.
A disadvantage of living next to a river would be flooding. In document six an image is represented to show the damage that flooding causes to homes near rivers. The image shows how high up the river got and the devastation the river caused to the homes near the river this further proves that this is a disadvantage. One more disadvantage of living next to a river is erosion. Document seven also has an image representing the disadvantage but this time the image represents a river eroding a rode. This could be very deficient because this would block of roads preventing travel
One more advantage of living next to a river is easy irrigation. This was stated in document 2 and says they use the water to irrigate their crops this makes the food supply greater. My last advantage of living next to a river is the handiness of importing and exporting goods next to your home. This is stated in document 1 and talks about importing and exporting made easier by living next to a river. For example this is useful for big companies because you can ship your goods out faster.
In conclusion there is a widespread amount of advantages and disadvantages of living next to a river. I can see why the ancient civilizations built towns along rivers because of all the advantages. Although I do question this because of the destruction that just an overflow of the river can cause. At last I would not live by a river because of the major risk of a natural disaster.
