When first asked the question whether or not we should have the death penalty here in the U.S. I thought there was nothing wrong with it. When criminals do heinous crimes within society I feel like the punishment they are given is well deserved. People in the U.S. have the right to freedom and right to live because of the fact they are human and we appreciate all human life. However when one individual acts in corrupt ways, that clearly shows they don’t care for good of other human life, they pretty much give up those rights that they once had. We have laws for a reason, our laws for the most part are to protect us, and if one is to not follow such laws, order needs to be restored among those individuals. Now the question is, is the death penalty the answer for particular individuals who have committed various acts of heinous crimes such as murder? The states that do take part in the death penalty have different things that technically qualify one for getting the death penalty. In a general sense there usually has to be a murder that is caused by an offender in one way or another. I think that however that each case is different and unique in its own way of course and it may be hard to distinguish what is credible for getting the death penalty versus just being locked up for life. I originally was in favor of the death penalty because I figured there’s no need to feed and clothe and give shelter to some horrible people, just get rid of them. I look at it like, there’s people living out on the streets without any of the things that these inmates have and they might not have even hurt anyone in there entire life, yet the one who has killed women and children or whoever, is the one getting the hot meal at night. When I found out the facts however about how much it costs to have someone be on death row and then have them put to death, I thought that that was absolutely ridiculous. I think that those individuals instead of being put to
