Death Penalty
Capital punishment, or the death penalty is a process where an individual is legally put to death as punishment for a crime, usually First Degree Murder. Many people oppose the death penalty because they feel like judges are trying to play God, or that being sentenced to die is cruel and unusual punishment. In my opinion, someone willing to plan out and murder another human being is cruel and unusual. If you choose to take someone’s life, yours should be taken as well. What if the person sitting next you was a killer or a rapist? What would you want from the government if that person were to kill someone that you knew? You would want justice. If that person was sentenced to death for their wrongdoing, you would feel some sort of relief. I think that a person who disagrees with capital punishment only disagrees with it because they personally haven’t had to go through a situation where someone they knew or loved was raped or killed by another person.
The Bible states, “An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.” In my opinion, this statement is more than appropriate for capital punishment. You have to stop and ask yourself, if not through capital punishment, how should an individual be punished for taking another human being’s life? If you examine the benefits of capital punishment, you may come to the conclusion that it is important that we retain it. Of course the use of capital punishment isn’t going to prevent every murder from occurring, but there is a sense of relief that once a murderer is put to death, that’s one less criminal in the world who could hurt anyone else.

As a result, more people have come to support capital punishment. Rates have fallen in recent years, and I find it necessary that people to realize how important it is to
