Debate on human nature and the role government should play in this role
-Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristics, including ways of thinking, feeling and acting that humans tend to have naturally, independently of the influence of culture.
-Please note that this is a graded assignment and I will be looking for research that backs up your reasoning. (There should also be evidence that you understand the point of view from the other characters in this debate with your counter arguments).
My Notes:
- Something Hammurabi said “ to promote the welfare of the people, I, Hammurabi, the devout, god-fearing prince, cause justice to prevail in the land by destroying the wicked and the evil, that the strong might not oppress the weak.”
- Hammurabi’s code established rules of procedure for courts of law and regulated property rights and the duties of family members, setting harsh punishments for crime.
- Hammurabi’s law code is pretty much, ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.’
- Hammurabi code implemented into people’s lives that they could no longer kill someone and get away with it, or steal someone’s stuff and get away with it. Instead, they would also get stolen the same value of an item or the same item, or would even be put to death if they took someone’s life. So instead of having pure freedom as humans had before the developed an organized society,( pure freedom being, you can kill, rape, steal without any consequences) ,you would now be punished by your crime in the same fashion. However, if you rape a girl, I doubt they would do anything unless you have a daughter of your own.
