Consultation can be made prior to decision making. During the decision making process the thoughts of non-managers are given consideration. Decision making can be challenged and these situations are notable for the voices of staff to be heard. Decision can be made by subordinates as well. Staff is encouraged to participate yet opportunities maybe inhibited by organizational structure and presence of cultural hierarchies. These cultural hierarchies are dependent on education levels and experience. Efforts have been made to flatten the hierarchical structures. This position revolves around desire versus actualization. There is a general belief amongst Canadians that authority can be challenged in favorable situations. The management style that would be most effective would be Authoritative. The Authoritative management style provides long-term direction in context with a vision. Canadians have high regards for privacy and personal space. Communication with Canadians can demand some patience because some Canadians may take a while to warm up. Personal aspects should never be discussed during a first acquaintance. During the development of the relationship these aspect may change. I do not agree with the statement “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.
