College Student
There are many reasons why students want to transfer from a community college to a university , better job, better pay and of course a bachelor’s degree. I picture myself walking on the stadium, my family screaming my name, and receiving my bachelors from Northridge University or CSULA. To make that a reality, I first need to complete 60 transferable units at Oxnard College. Once I complete my general education, I will receive my A.A in business administrative and hopefully transfer to CSUN. The courses that I still need to complete are two classes in economics, accounting, math, and english.
My first semester here at Oxnard College, I took four classes for a total of 16 units. It was a difficult semester and a different experience from a high school semester. I completed my first semester and enrolled in twelve units for the spring semester. When registration time comes I seek the help from my EOPS/CARE counselors to guide me through my college journey and led me to my university journey. My counselors Ms. Gloria and Mr. Ross not just give me an educational plan, but they tell about their university journey and how everything is possible even if you don’t have the money to pay for your tuition. that Keeping up with school and my three year old daughter is really stressful, when feeling like I need extra help on homework or quizzes I seek help from my older brother, a tutor, or I go to the library. Filling out my financial aid is an important step I take every school year, I go to the workshops they offer at Oxnard College and they help me fill my form out and answer any questions me and my parents might have. Filling out my financial aid will be something I will always take care of no matter what university I attend. I attend workshop at Oxnard College and CSUCI that help explain the cost of attendance at a UC or a CSU. The workshops also educate students and parents on how

The new community college for full-time students will not provide a degree in all areas, “All first-year students would be required to take a predetermined core curriculum and would then be limited to their choice of about 12 majors” (Moltz, 2009). The majors that were proposed will be in pre-career fields, which will be designed to assist students with transferability. The transferability requirements to four-year institutions have increased throughout the years and it is important that the two-year college focuses on making sure that student are academically on track to transfer. At times, community college students do not complete a bachelor’s due to the lack of preparation for what is expected of them once they transfer. The curriculum proposed requires full time enrollment and taking more than 12 units per semester, which will prepare students for a better transition to a four-year…

In my own experience, I've found that the most frustrating part of applying to college would be the financial aid process. When applying to colleges one quickly realizes that no one is around to help you through all the fine print within applications, no one to help you remember the many passwords and log-in profiles, and nothing can prepare the most patient person for the hours that are spent at the financial aid office, only to find out that there is yet another discrepancy in the process. All this can leave an optimistic student with a heavy heart.…
