Each death camp could kill tens of thousands of people each month and unlike regular concentration camps, these death camps were equipped with gas chambers” (Ch. 36 Section 2). Hitler had stripped all Jews of their civil rights, had them beaten or killed, and sent them to concentration camps. At these concentration camps, the Jews were treated inhumanely. Nazi leaders would lock them in poisonous gas chambers and if you were a child, a pregnant women, the elderly or sick you were killed right after arrival. Studies show that the Nazis killed some 6 million Jews, or about 40 percent of the world’s Jewish population. Clearly the Jews freedoms and liberties were stripped from them, by Hitler himself, and they had no other choice but to do as they were told to try and stay alive or if not they knew they would be killed.
