Thomas Jefferson traveled to Philadelphia to be a delegate to the Second Continental Congress on May 1779. June 28th, 1776 the Draft was shown to Congress, but Delegates from South Carolina did not want to sign it. They did not agree with Jefferson’s words against slavery some Delegates from South Carolina also did not want to sign it. A lot of changes happen to the Declaration even the Congress argued for and against so they finally just took slavery out of the Declaration. On the same day, but late afternoon Congress approve the Declaration of Independence. Jon Hancock, who was the president of Congress signed the Declaration, which made it officially legal and binded. On July 8th the Declaration of Independence was read in all of Philadelphia. Everyone who lived in Philadelphia was ecstatic, they all cheered with great joy. Then on July 15th and thirteen states had voted for a new declaration , on August 2nd The Declaration of Independence was written. It was signed by all the members of Congress.
In conclusion, the Declaration of Independence is still famous until this day. It stated basic rights and liberties all Americans and declared the colonies independence from Great Britain.
