Defining Moment Short Story
A life defining moment: My Story
I won’t forget the day I met Tina Gorsuch who serves as my Mentor and Employer. It was a rainy day and I had finished my classes but was disillusioned about life. I had nowhere to go so I decided to go to a Pub and drink to stupor. As I walked towards my Car, I felt this empty feeling that made me distraught. I was to accompany my Sister to see her Dentist the next day so I just managed to stumble home. The night was uneventful as I kept gazing at the Stars and wondering what the future held.
The next day, when I walked into the Dentistry, I noticed a glow and charm about this lady. She was professional in all she did and we started talking on issues that had to do with my life. I still do not know why she picked

It was almost 5am on July 17, 1996, when I was rushed to the hospital. I was balled up in the back seat of my mother in laws car, biting down on a towel because the pain was so unbearable. I heard him say “it’s ok baby… ” just as another jolt of pain came. As his voice faded I could feel him rubbing my back, and I tried my best to listen to his voice and forget the pain. It was impossible though, the baby was coming and there was no turning back now.…

What A Year How can one prepare for a pivotal point in their life? The answer is simple: one can’t. With all the reading and researching only one thing is evident: one cannot see the outcome of one’s life exactly as it will happen. When a pivotal point in my life comes around I realise what is important and what is not. I see how meaningless certain things can become and how one thing can affect me.…

I remember the day well. I was just finished with school for the year and sitting on the front step, the top half of me laying back on the porch, just staring. I was thinking about the small house my mother worked so hard for us to get and keep. We lived in row housing just outside Juneau Alaska. All of the houses were small and I always thought to myself, “Is this the life I am destined for?” My mind wondered as I looked up at the clouds and squinted because of the sun.…

My most profound moment during my trip was when we were leaving to go back to Vancouver, a little girl Yosemarie smiled and whispered “Gracias!” Ever since I left, “Gracias!” has remained a constant reminder that I want to find a professional job that will allow me to serve others. The thought that just by teaching Yosemarie English, she was grateful fulfilled my internal satisfaction and made me realize that I want to be a pediatric dentist. I also realized how important dentists are to societies around the world because the meaning of a warm smile is the same…

As a child, looking at the world, everything seemed big and scary. Naturally, most children would dive into the new world with fresh eyes and contentment, but I would always stay back. I would think things through and consider consequences before acting irrationally. My friends would always do things with spontaneity while I would get left behind sitting alone shrouded by my fear. As life gradually moved on, I grew to overcome my fears and not overanalyze situations with the help of a few moments in my life.…

It was my sister who taught me how to ride a bicycle “The training wheels are coming off today” was the first thing she said at the breakfast table. Mom just finished a batch of her secret ingredient blue berry pancakes with butter on top. Walking outside that morning I can remember how sunny it was and how there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. It was a bright warm day and the perfect summer day. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the afternoon.…

May 20th, 2013 was the day that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was just like a regular school day with a sunny weather and a brief vibe from the morning breeze. As I got out of my car in parking lot 30, I realized that it was a horrible decision to stay up so late last night. I felt so tired and regretful for my decision. After sips and sips of my coffee from Starbucks, I felt more energized, and all of a sudden the dark cloud just automatically cleared out of my mind. After hours of talks about ideas of nurture vs. nature, I was finally done with the day. As I walked out of the University Lecture Hall, my mind was filled with the idea of going to the post office to pick up my newly ordered contact lenses that I was so excited about for days. But, I had no idea of what was going to happen throughout the rest of my day. My car was crashed on the 60 east freeway. I was so desperate and I thought I was going to fall off of the freeway, but in the matter of fact, I am still living and breathing right at this moment.…
