Kente cloth is originally from Ghana, however, this print connects me to take pride in different African cultures. I have been wearing Kente cloth throughout high school and now in college displaying the importance of why I am proud to be African because this cloth was worn by kings and queens in Africa. Despite hearing the single story about Africa in history books the Kente cloth has inspired me to speak up and address how beautiful the people and countries are. With that being said I have participated in various organizations that embrace Caribbeans and Africans, offering new food and music. Even though I am the first-generation student in college, with the support of my family back home, I am an example to many young girls and boys in my community to work hard for one-day seek admission to a college like Holy Cross or even Harvard. Four years from now I know that I will not be disappointed with the hopes of attaining a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in philosophy. Therefore, I am someone who wants the best for themselves and others while taking every step to be successful in the end.
Given these points, the three objects being a bible, Kente cloth, and acceptance letter to Holy cross are all been beneficial when defining my identity.
