Friendship Every individual has distinct qualities and different perspectives. When two individuals cooperate to work as a team, they discover whether or not they are compatible with each other. If compatibility is not an issue, then they may become friends, accepting the differences between them. A good friend is one who supports the other’s interests, who understands his weaknesses, strengths, who is respectful. Friends do not always share the same enthusiasm for a particular subject, but it is essential that they support each other’s interests because the action of just being there shows that he is willing to take part in the other’s life. One should never be ashamed of a friend’s weaknesses. Instead, he should help him overcome those weaknesses, maybe even making them a part of his strengths. At the same time, a friend should also be aware of his strengths, checking that they are not causing him to become too prideful. A valuable friend genuinely cares about how another is doing in life. Respect for each another is imperative in a friendship. Everyone has secrets, so one should not press for answers when the other is clearly unwilling to share the information. If the person wants to share the secret, it is important to be a good listener. One should be responsible by never compromising a friend’s trust and revealing it to other people. In addition to being considerate of another’s privacy, a good friend should not be too judgmental. Although one should never be afraid to contradict a friend, as everyone is allowed to have his own opinion, he should be mindful of the friend’s feelings. Friendship is founded upon how well individuals interact with and understand each other.
